Skagen is the northernmost point of Denmark, where the Baltic and North Seas meet. The two opposing tides in this place can not merge because they have different densities.

It’s actually very picturesque there. Good for holidaying. And wading about around Grenen is pretty fun - depending on the weather conditions and which side you choose.

The Pebble Toad from Venezuela is hunted by Toad-eating Tarantulas, but is able to escape by turning itself into a rubber ball. The toad is so tiny and weighs so little that bouncing doesn’t hurt it at all. (Life - BBC)

Foucault pendulum

Named after the French physicist Léon Foucault, it is a simple device conceived as an experiment to demonstrate the rotation of the Earth.

The experimental apparatus consists of a tall pendulum free to swing in any vertical plane. The actual plane of swing appears to rotate relative to the Earth; in fact the plane is fixed in space while the Earth rotates under the pendulum once a sidereal day. The first public exhibition of a Foucault pendulum took place in February 1851 in the Meridian of the Paris Observatory.
